But Why!?!

Why should I join West PTA?

Join West PTA for your child because increasing our membership, even by one, makes it possible to provide important educational resources, speak up on important issues and create a stronger RWJH community.

Where does my money go when I pay membership dues?

PTA dues directly support your child. PTA  dues help fund essential school resources and needs. PTA dues support advocacy efforts at the local, state and national levels, impacting decisions affecting your child’s health, safety and quality of education.

PTA dues support our work to strengthen connections between your family, your child’s classmates and their families, and teachers to build a thriving and inclusive community for everyone.

When you become a West PTA member, you help us enrich and support the RWJH experience. Your membership contributes important funding and support for programs, events, and enrichment such as:

  • Monthly hospitality events and items to thank and encourage West teachers
  • Student dances held in the fall and spring semesters
  • Courtyard beautification - additional tables and seating were purchased and installed in 2024
  • PTA Reflections art program
  • West Health and Nurse Services
  • Student Incentives
  • Parent education programs
  • West PTA directory and updates

How do student members benefit?

  • Participation in the PTA Reflections program
  • Gaining an active voice in a large advocacy group (which is a great resume builder)
  • Access to the student member assembly with an elected official

If you join, do you have to go to meetings?

No. You are welcome to attend our general meetings though. If you do attend, you are able to vote as a PTA member.

The only thing required of you to be a member of PTA is to pay the annual membership dues. Beyond that, however you choose to PTA is up to you!

If you join, do you have to volunteer or spend a lot of time at school?

Nope! Joining the PTA is not the same as volunteering. If you choose to volunteer we would LOVE the help—but volunteering is not required.

There is no wrong or right way to be involved – anything you can give, whether it’s time or money, will support your child’s potential.

How does PTA ensure it represents every child and family at the school?

We encourage every family in the school to become a West PTA member to support the success of their child. We want a diverse membership base that reflects all of the families and needs of students at West.

Our PTA strengthens connections between your family, your child’s classmates and their families and teachers to build a thriving and inclusive community for everyone.
